Hey there, I think it will differ for everyone and with each pregnancy, but last time I only used maternity pads for the first 4 days and then moved onto a regular pad for about 2 weeks. The heaviness of bleeding varies for everyone so it is hard to plan for to an exact science. With my first I bled quite heavily for the first weeks at least while I was in hospital. I went through at least 3 packets of maternity pads in that week as I bled through them quickly.
After a week or so maybe 2 i switched to super pads 1packet , then regular pads, for couple of weeks then liners. My suggestion would be to have packs of maternity pads and then see how you go.
You may be lucky and not have too much bleeding. I used less than a packet in my first few days before going on to normal pads. Perhaps just buy another only if and when you need it. I also only used maternity pads for about days and then was on regular ultra thins, and I was over prepared i thought I'd be bleeding heavily for at least 2 weeks I had so many giant pads left over.
